Your first few weeks: what to expect
The first few weeks are less about the numbers and more about finding a routine, and knowing your care team is there. Here’s what tends to happen, and how to make the most of it.
The start of any new programme takes a little getting used to. The most useful thing in the early weeks isn’t a dramatic result on the scales. It’s building a steady routine and getting comfortable with how you and your care team stay in touch.
Progress isn’t a straight line
Weight naturally moves up and down from day to day: water, food, sleep and time of day all play a part. That’s why a single reading tells you very little, and a trend over several weeks tells you much more. Try to weigh yourself in a consistent way (for example, the same morning each week) and look at the direction of travel rather than any one number.
Small habits make the difference
- Keep your weekly check-in short and honest. It’s most useful when it reflects a normal week.
- Note how you’re feeling, not just your weight. How you’re sleeping, eating and moving all matter.
- Bring any questions to your care team early, rather than saving them up.
You’re not doing this alone
Your check-ins go to the team looking after you, so if something needs attention they can reach out: a message, a review, or a follow-up appointment booked at a time that suits you. The point of staying connected is that you don’t have to work out on your own whether something matters.
If you feel unwell or something worries you between check-ins, contact your care team through the app. For urgent advice call 111, or 999 in an emergency.
